Devotion for Tuesday, March 31, The Fifth Week in Lent

Psalm 23:2 | He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.

What should you do if you are riding a bike, and you see a large pothole coming ahead, with no time to stop. Well, you know, if you are a biker. Relax your arms and legs, go with what is happening and increase your concentration. Ride the pothole through and do the best you can with whatever happens. The same with hydroplaning. Don’t lock your wheels, wait until your tires get a grip again…lean in. Go with the flow, and then be ready to do what you have to do.

And Love. Love—no? Listen to one another, ride with a new way of seeing, wait for the grip of intimacy to show itself. God’s divine appointment.

And the same with God’s guidance. Ride through it, stay loose, lean in and wait for your moment of action. The wind of the Holy Spirit blows through.

I once saw a priest ask the Holy Spirit to come and fall on a group of people waiting for an experience. He called on the Spirit. Quiet. Minutes went by. Nothing.

Finally he said: “I guess this is a gentle quiet day”. Sweet. Honest.

Listen for the word God will send you. Lean in and feel the heavenly direction.

PRAYER
My sweet Lord, bless me in this ride I am on.
Loosen my grip and let me rest in your purpose.
Make my eyes fierce to see your possibilities.
