Devotion for March 29, The Fifth Sunday in Lent

Matthew 8:17 | So God’s promise came true, just as the prophet Isaiah had said,
“He healed our diseases and made us well.

When Jesus came to a new town, the first thing he often did was to heal hurting people. In time, he had that reputation, and people would come from everywhere to be healed or see people who were.

A wise preacher once said to me “Janet, you can teach people about faith for years, but it will never take the place of one good miraculous healing.” True right? Seeing is believing.

Today, a reporter asked me “How do you explain the resurrection?” I was speechless (rare moment indeed). Finally, I thought—well I guess we see moments of the resurrection even now when the Holy Spirit opens our eyes. Yes?

So today—my picture is a moment of the resurrected Jesus the people of All Saints’ gave me. If you remember, when I was in the hospital, I mentioned I wanted to play with Colorforms and Lego. You now see before you the bounty of that request!

Thank you for being part of the resurrected Jesus for me. Thank you even more for the ways in which the resurrected Jesus shows up for you.

PRAYER
Amazing, timeless Lord, show us your resurrected self.
Appear before us, even now.
Open our eyes to see your Grace.
Be present in our joy and in our despair.
