Forgive

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another,
as God in Christ forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32

Forgiveness can be somewhat of a challenge. It is something we can grasp intellectually, but when faced with the opportunity we shy away. Perhaps missing no opportunity more than when it comes to forgiving ourselves.

It is January 5. Across the world a countless amount of New Year’s resolutions have been lost or unfulfilled. Many carry with them pains and anger from the year past, and some have been carrying that burden even longer. It is sometimes easier to carry than to lay those burdens at the cross.

Whether it is a failed resolution, a promise broken, or some other sin we just can't let go, it's important to remember the words of our scripture today. Forgive, as we have been forgiven. Set free, just as we have already been. Not just those whom we would call our enemies, but forgiving ourselves also. That is the great gift of the cross. Forgive, as we have been forgiven.

-Reverend Michael Sahdev

Lord, I know that You have forgiven me for my. I thank You for Your unconditional love and grace. I am truly sorry and wish to overcome these tendencies. Now, Father, help me forgive myself. Erase my guilt and create a new heart within me. Amen
