Epiphanies
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,
and we have seen his glory,
glory as of the only Son from the Father,
full of grace and truth.
John 1:14
As we come to the end of this Christmas season there is always a bit of sadness to this time of year. While we have enjoyed that Christmas cheer, watched the ball drop on a new year, and opened new presents, that is all behind us. Fortunately, what awaits is something just as exciting and always timely. The Epiphany, or “Three Kings Day” as it is known in some cultures, marks the beginning of something new.
The Season After the Epiphany brings with it a time of growth. Our liturgical color is green, like vegetation that grows after being fed by the waters of baptism, and basking in the rays of the Son. This season is an emphasis on its namesake, epiphanies. It is a time for us to recall how God is revealed through the person of Jesus, and how Jesus reveals himself in many places today.
As we move into this new year, this new time, and the continued new challenges and issues that life brings, let us seek to grow. To grow in our faith, our love, and our relationship with God. Christ reveals himself to us in so many ways, and yet we often miss it. Let this be the year, the season, and the moment in which we allow ourselves to know and see God all about us.

Let us pray…
O God, who by the leading of a star manifested your only Son to the peoples of the earth: mercifully grant that we, who know you now by faith, may at last behold your glory face to face; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
