Compassion & Love
…how are we to buy bread, so that these people might eat? –John 6:5
Now and as never before, we all need to help take care of the people we encounter in our everyday lives. We need to take decisive steps to provide compassion and love—to show that we care about them and their lives.
It is not a good thing to let other people know that we won’t care about them if they don’t agree with us. It is just wrong to dismiss their values, their thoughts, their importance while marginalizing them.
As Christians, we should be asking ourselves how we might let other individuals and groups know that we care about them as people and want to help in nourishing their lives.
-John Gude
Let us pray…
Grant, O God, that your holy and lifegiving Spirit may so move every human heart, and especially the hearts of the people of this land, that barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease; that our divisions being healed, we may live in justice and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
