Under Grace

Then they again called the man who was blind and said unto him, “Give God the praise! We know that this man is a sinner.” He answered and said, “Whether he be a sinner or not, I know not. One thing I know, that whereas I was blind, now I see.”
-John 9:24-25

I was really struggling with these verses (actually, the whole reading of John 9:18-41) until I realized that the words of the hymn for “Amazing Grace” rang strong and true, specifically in verse 25.  Of course, being a choir member, I have realized that I read all Bible verses as if they were hymns and anthems.  However, until I read this passage and these specific verses, I did not “see” that.  I was blind, but now I “see.” To “see” this we must shut out everything else and let God take over with His grace.

We are all familiar with the hymn “Amazing Grace” - however, do we realize how much it has permeated our daily lives and yet we are found, most of the time, to sing it during memorials of those that have gone on before us.  Why is this when it was meant to be for us that live in His grace?  We all have the words in our minds and our souls; however, do we live these words as God intended?

Let Us Pray…

Dear Lord, help us to continue to see thy grace in our everyday life and not just at times of need. We are all worthy, at all times, and we give thanks for saving us and giving us sight. Amen.
