Search for Me
Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little while longer, and then I am going to him who sent me. You will search for me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come.”
-John 7:33–34
The context for our scripture today is “about the middle of the festival,” where Jesus taught publicly in the temple, in spite of local authorities wanting to arrest him. He is letting his disciples know what is to come, and as usual, they don’t get it. Jesus is (not-so-subtly in hindsight) referring to his coming arrest, crucifixion and death, and the disciples think he’s going to Greece. Have you ever thought you understood what God was saying to you in a particular moment, and then looked back later only to realize He was saying something quite different? I know I have!
We are “about in the middle” of our Lenten journey. How’s it going? Are you still searching for Him? Have you found him? Do you understand what he is trying to tell you?

Let us pray…
Lord, as we continue our journey through this Lenten season, may we continue to seek you out. May we continue to seek your word in our lives. May we continue to seek understanding. Amen.
