All Good

Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For “no human being will be justified in his sight” by deeds prescribed by the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
-Romans 3:19-20

It's been said that God doesn't respond to what we DO...we respond to what God DOES. It's clear we are all born sinners. Trying to live under the law and be perfect is impossible. What does the song say? ”I fought the law and the law won.” It does every time! I think God cares more that we believe and have a strong faith. Ours in him and his in our flawed existence. There are no prizes for following rules your whole life. And try as we might to look for God's grace in our “good-deed doing,” it's fruitless. Surely, Christ died for our sins. Might that be comfort to us as we agonize over all our wrongdoings? Perhaps it would serve us best to work harder in our faith, love others more deeply, and truly accept God as our Saviour. We are “all good” in God's eyes. I know that. Today as we walk through Lent and every day.

Let us pray…

Heavenly Father, we have all broken your perfect standard of righteousness, and we all stand guilty before You. And yet, in your goodness and grace, you sent the Lord Jesus to be the propitiation for our sins, and for all who would trust in His sacrifice. Thank you that by faith in Christ’s we have been justified in your sight and declared righteousness – for though we were sinners, we have been saved by grace through faith in Christ.
