One Has Died For All

“For the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. And he died for all, so that those who might live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised for them.”

2 Corinthians 5:14-15

Whether it was fear of death from Covid, losing a loved one or friend to Covid, the death of George Floyd and too many other Black Americans, or the death of Ukrainian civilians on the news every day, death has played an outsized role in our collective lives these last two years. And here we are in the season of Lent, where we march together as a community toward Jesus’ death on the cross. It’s a lot of darkness to push through since March 2020, but we can be encouraged because we have the brightest flashlight in the world to guide us – the love of Christ that urges us on. Imagine Christ’s love as a head lamp you strap on to find your way through a dark tunnel - lighting not just your path but the path of those around you as well. Let the love of Christ keep you going till you reach the hope of Easter and the resurrection.

Let us pray…

Lord, let me be an instrument of your love and light when times are dark. Help me remember that Christ died for all to lead us to our eternal home with you. Amen.
