Devotion for Tuesday, March 17, the third week of Lent
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Hebrews 12:12 | Therefore, lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees,
and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame
may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.
I was a potter in Ireland when a young man and his fiancé visited my apartment. We had met at a prayer group meeting and they had come by to say hello and pray with me. I was considering being baptized a Roman Catholic.
He had studied for the priesthood, and now, having fallen in love, he had left the seminary to be married and work for peace between Catholics and Protestants in Belfast. He read this scripture from Hebrews and spoke a prophesy for me: “When you go back to the USA you will find a church and the Lord will tell you where you should be planted.”
The letter to the Hebrews tells us to walk out in the direction the Lord has placed before us. Guidance from God may sometimes be a day at a time (sometimes an hour at a time)—but guide us, God will. Do you have a prophesy to guide you? I bet you do—it may feel like a stirring in your heart, a very true Word spoken by a friend, a vision.
PRAYER
Make us strong Lord to walk
with firm strides towards your Glory.
Give us a prophesy
to know you have us
in you ever loving arms.
