Taste and See

You, God are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.

(Psalm of David when he was in the Desert of Judah)

Seek, thirst, seen, beheld, love, glorify, praise, lift, satisfied, singing, remember, help, sing and uphold.

These words came into my heart as I read and re-read this incredible Psalm.  The strength that I draw from these words helps me thru this difficult time of uncertainty in the world, and yet uplifts me as we go into a healing time for our parish.  I can only imagine David’s time in the desert; however, I believe that these feelings and words he wrote helped him through that time and that with God we can achieve anything.  Take the time to read these words and know that God is in all of them.

Taste and see that the Lord is good, his mercy endures forever.

Let us pray…

Dear Lord, as we go thru the desert of Lent together, help us to taste and see your glory, now and always. Amen.
