I {heart} a Psalm
You who live in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.”
-Psalm 91:1-2
I love a Psalm, don’t you? I love to read the words of David (and others) praising their God, crying out to Him for help, or requesting that He slay their enemies, like we all do. These particular verses are those of peace, and calm and trust. I would like my song to God to always be one of complete trust in Him and the peace that brings, but that is not always the case is it? As we step into the season of Lent, what would you like to sing to God? Praise? Joy? Anger? Fear? As the psalmists show us, He can take whatever song you throw at Him and will continue to be your refuge and your fortress.

Let us pray…
Dear Lord, help us to step into the shadow of your wings and to know we are safe. Help us also to be honest in our prayers, to cry out to you when we need to. Help us to know you are always our refuge and fortress. Amen.
