I Call on You

I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
    turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
 Show me the wonders of your great love,
    you who save by your right hand
    those who take refuge in you from their foes.
 Keep me as the apple of your eye;
    hide me in the shadow of your wings

-Psalm 17: 6-8

I love this psalm because it comforts me. Life, with all of its’ challenges can be daunting, even frightening. When I read these words, I am transported to a place of calm, and sometimes even bliss. Just knowing that there is a greater, compassionate presence that loves me unconditionally fills me with great joy. This Psalm always reminds me that God is always right there. I just need to get still, and open my heart.

Let us pray…

O God of peace, who hast taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be our strength: By the might of thy Spirit lift us, we pray thee, to thy presence, where we may be still and know that thou art God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. [A Prayer For Quiet Confidence (BCP)]
