Blessed Beyond Measure

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11

Today is the Feast of the Apostle Thomas. For many, his many incredible acts of ministry go overlooked. Instead, he is simply known as the doubter.

It’s quite appropriate that we remember Thomas this close to Christmas. Like Thomas’ ministry, so many in our All Saints’ community do so much, yet are often overlooked. While the clergy and musicians are often front and center, perhaps like Thomas, we should take a moment to give thanks for those whom we might overlook in our own lives.

I am especially grateful for the wider staff and ministry leaders of All Saints’; especially Brian Ide, Courtenay Hrubesky, Manuel Castro, Gerry Suenram, Susan Humphreville, our vestry, the many ministry leaders, tireless volunteers, and so many others who are “behind the scenes.” Even during this pandemic, so many have worked tirelessly to bring Christ’s love through our screens and into our homes. While it may not have always been perfect, it was never from a lack of love or effort. There are too many of these Saints to name even now, but as we remember Thomas this day, let us also lift up in prayer and give thanks for all we might take for granted. We are blessed beyond measure by their life and work.

Let us pray…

Everliving God, who strengthened your apostle Thomas with firm and certain faith in your Son’s resurrection: Grant us so perfectly and without doubt to believe in Jesus Christ, our Lord and our God, that our faith may never be found wanting in your sight; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
