Advent & Christmas

Dear Friends in Christ,

Advent is a season that is sometimes in tension with the pressures of the world around us. As we prepare for the Christmas season, it can feel like everything is speeding up and Advent calls us to slow down. With a flip of the switch and boom of fireworks, city holiday lights are suddenly on full display and ready for crowds to celebrate. In our Advent tradition, the light grows slowly, one candle at a time, until we light all four candles and the Christ candle on our Advent wreaths. Christmas carols are on full blast everywhere - and our hymns and music can feel quieter and more contemplative until we have a full swell of song at our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services.

I love all of the holiday preparations, and I also love the quiet darkness of Advent. Here at All Saints, there will be plenty of opportunities for both sides of this season. We will send you materials and opportunities for prayer, worship, music, community, service, and celebration. Please see at the calendar on this page and click on individual events for more information. As additional opportunities arise, we will add them. Please see above for an "opt in" Advent text for spiritually uplifting message and event reminders.

Your sister in Christ,

Andrea+
